Add the power of whonu.com to your Google Toolbar!
1. In order to begin using whonu on your Google toolbar, you need to make sure you have the latest version (installation takes less than 1 minute).
Click here to go to the Google toolbar download page right now (this opens a new window).
2. With the newest version of the Google toolbar installed, simply click the add link in order to add the whonu search button to your personal toolbar.
Here are some basic instructions for helping you get the most of the whonu/Google toolbar combination.
Basic searching
To do a basic search from the toolbar, enter your keyword/query into the Google toolbar query box, then click the whonu tool button to send that search to whonu.
![]()
Note: In order to initiate a search using a button on the toolbar, a little magnifying glass icon needs to appear on the toolbar button (see graphic above). If this icon is not there, simply click inside the Google toolbar query box to activate it.
You can set whonu as the toolbar default search type by selecting it from the list that appears when you click the little arrow that appears in the query box:

The icon that now appears on the Google query box indicates what source (in this case whonu), is the default search source:
![]()
In this case, to send your search to whonu, just enter your query into the Google toolbar query box, and either press the Go button, or Enter on your keyboard.
Search using selected text
A really nice feature of the Google toolbar is that it allows you to select text on a Web page (maybe a person's name, a place, or some other thing) and quickly perform a search using the text/keywords you selected.
There are couple ways to do this.
First, obviously, you need to select some text on a page you're viewing. When you do this, a special icon (three little lines) will appear over the whonu button on your toolbar:
![]()
This icon indicate that if you click the whonu button, it will perform a search using the text you've selected.
A second way to perform this kind of search is to select the text, then right-click on it. This will open a menu, allowing you to choose a search tool to perform a search on the selected text:
